Day 11: Praying for our community
We have been called the light of the world and the salt of the earth. God’s expectation is that we live up to these names. We are not living in this community by accident. We have been called to roll up our sleeves and labour for the master.
Matthew 9:35-38 – Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 – If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
1 John 3:8 – He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
**Lord give us the burden to pray for our community
**Fill our hearts with passion and compassion
** We come against every demonic sponsored vices- that has put people in bondage and held them bound
** We pray that they be loosed from the hold of satan, his lies and deceit
**For their eyes to be opened to see the light of the glorious gospel
** Empower us/the church in Medway to step up to the plate in a concerted effort
** We decree that Medway opens up totally to the gospel
** We ask for divine wisdom to reach out to our service users
