Day 8: The restoration of the ancient paths
Ancient landmarks refer to God’s unchanging truths and moral standards.
Ancient, not because they are old but because they’re from the one who is ageless and timeless. The one in whom there is no variableness and no shadow of turning. His ways and precepts are timeless and not affected by modernity
There have been various attempts (and there are still), to reinvent the wheel, reinterpret the Bible and redefine God’s laws, but the foundations stand sure.
This is a trumpet sound to warn us against straying from biblical principles, moral foundations, or the core teachings of the faith in favor of changing cultural trends and values.
This is a time-tested way of living, no modern alternatives can be compared to it
Let us spend this season to check ourselves and to reflect deeply if we’ve moved the landmark.
Jer 6:16-17 – Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
Prov 22:28 – Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set
2 Tim 2:19 AMP – Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God [which He has laid] stands [sure and unshaken despite attacks], bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord stand apart from wickedness and withdraw from wrongdoing.”
** In whatever way we have drifted, we ask for mercy and forgiveness
** Where we’ve removed the landmark in thoughts and actions, father forgive
** Lord restore us back to the ancient paths.
** Lord empower us to resist the attempts of the enemy to make us shift the boundary
** Lord strengthen our resolve to remain on the ancient path
** Help us not to compromise the truth of your word and lower the standard
** Deepen our conviction that there is no other path- any other path is counterfeit
** We receive grace and courage on this altar to keep living by the truth and for the truth of the word of God
